SENIOR MEN

Senior Men

Our Senior Men's squad has two groups: our U23/Senior triallists, who have recently focused on sculling but is starting to include sweep athletes again, and our main squad which focuses mainly on sweep. Both groups train together, with a base programme of 10 sessions a week, and then individual adjustments to this are made in consultation with coaches with respect to each athlete's end goals.  Water training takes place at Strathclyde Country Park, with land training in the university's Pleasance Sport Complex & Gym, where we have our Dame Katherine Grainger rowing gym.

We race all season at Scottish and UK events, with a particular focus on BUCS events, Scottish & British Championships, and Henley Royal Regatta, where in 2016 our Prince Albert coxed four became the first (and to this date only) Scottish university crew to win an event at Henley. The squad regularly wins medals at BUCS events, including gold in Champ 4-, bronze in Champ 4+ & bronze in Champ 8+ at BUCS Head 2020, and gold in Champ Lwt 4x, bronze in Champ Lwt 2x & bronze in Champ 2- at the 2021 BUCS Regatta. At the most recent Scottish regatta, the 'Lochdown Regatta', we came away with an impressive number of wins including 1st-2nd in the 8+, 1st-3rd in the 4- and 1st-4th in the 2-. At Henley Royal Regatta we sent a Temple 8+, which reached the quarter-finals before being knocked out by the eventual winners of the event.
