A Brief History
Edinburgh University Boat Club (EUBC) is one of the oldest boat clubs in Scotland, as well as one of the oldest and largest sports clubs within the University of Edinburgh. It was established in 1867, has raced the Scottish Boat Race against Glasgow University ever since 1877, and has gone on to produce numerous Olympic medallists.

In 2010, Rowing became one of ten Performance Sport Programmes at the university, enabling access to top class Strength & Conditioning facilities and coaching, alongside other professional support such as the FASIC Sports Injuries Clinic. EUBC has partnered with Scottish Rowing to ensure that athletes receive quality care across the board.

Since 2015 the club has been recognised as a British Rowing High Performance Programme, and counts various U23 World Champions among its present and former members. Highlights include placing top ten at Head of the River Race and Women's Head of the River, and wins at Henley Women's Regatta. In 2016 a standout performance at Henley Royal Regatta secured a win in the Prince Albert Challenge Cup.

With the support of British Rowing, Scottish Rowing, University of Edinburgh Sport & Exercise and the university Sports Union, as well as various alumni and other members of the EUBC community, the boat club is able to offer students the ability to not only enjoy participating in the world’s oldest varsity sport, but to also be successful in competition at local, national and international levels.
